Fully rubber-covered chuck  and our conventional keyed chuck can be reversed.

When the core strength of the material roll is poor, the protruding points of the keyed collet will deform the entire roll core.

Look at this example using a keyed collet—the physical object being held by the collet has torn the paper roll apart.

First advantage: The full-rubber sleeve chuck features a circumferential rubber bladder, providing superior adhesion to the roll core.

Second advantage: This enhanced adhesion creates a higher friction coefficient on smooth rolls.

Mechanical chuck principle: The reverse friction force from keyway pressure has a low friction coefficient. Excessive normal pressure can damage the roll core.

When roll cores have low strength, mechanical rotating chucks are unsuitable.

Disadvantages of fully rubber-covered chucks: Unsuitable for heavy loads. Relying solely on air-cushion support without piston mechanisms, these chucks generally cannot handle heavy loads—specifically, a pair of 6-inch fully rubber-covered chucks should not exceed 1 ton, while a pair of 8-inch chucks should not exceed 1.5 tons.

A pair of 6-inch fully rubber-covered chucks should not exceed 1 ton load capacity.

When used in extremely low-speed applications, a pair of 6-inch fully rubber-covered chucks can handle up to 1.5 tons.

This is because slower rotation reduces inertia, and lower inertia requires less clamping force.

However, under normal operating conditions,

chucks typically rotate at several hundred RPM. At these standard speeds, a pair of 6-inch fully rubber-clad chucks cannot handle loads exceeding 1.5 tons.

A pair of 6-inch fully rubber-covered chucks rotating at 50 to 100 RPM can handle loads exceeding 1 ton per minute.

A pair rotating at over 200 RPM cannot exceed a maximum load of 1 ton per minute; exceeding this limit will cause slippage.
